Lewellyn House | 9 Bedrooms | 9 Ensuite Bathrooms | Historic Home Opposite The Convent Gallery
Large historic residence with clean, vintage charm. Lewellyn House accommodates up to 18 guests across 9 impressive bedrooms, each serviced by one of the 9 bathrooms. Established Circa 1861 by Daylesford’s first parliamentarian, Henry Wheeler, the property is rich in history. The home’s garden is said to have been planted alongside that of the Wombat Hill Botanic Garden by German-Australian botanist Baron Ferdinand Von Mueller. Located in that same premier Wombat Hill precinct, lodgers will find themselves across from the distinguished Convent Gallery, and not far from the centre of Daylesford proper.
Lewellyn House’s interior design retains an historical feel despite its 21st century revival. White panelled walls, rustic furnishings, potted plants and characterful artworks are common in every room.
The living room is kitted out with a rustic Ned Kelly fire place, vintage leather armchairs and plush couches. Sketches and paintings hang on the walls, and natural light streams in through the windows looking into the garden. With a large TV for entertainment, this space is perfect for coming together as a group. The dining area is replete with an array of houseplants, beautiful furniture and dinnerware. The substantial rustic table can seat a full house, making this another great space to spend time together.
The kitchen has been outfitted with two high quality ovens with large stovetops to cater for the whole group’s culinary needs. Guests will not want for utensils, pots, pans or other kitchen basics either. With plenty of bench space, this heavy-duty kitchen is as reliable as it is stylish. Antique photographs, rich wood countertops and shelves and lush houseplants make it an all-round pleasant room.
Bedrooms are furnished in a similar fashion to the rest of the home, with plants, paintings, wooden furniture and unique sculptures bringing an artistic flair. 9 king beds, one to each room.
Hydronic Heating and split-system cooling will keep Lewellyn House comfortable year-round. Central to the history of Daylesford, Lewellyn House is a consistent favourite of large corporate stays and groups of holidaymakers alike.
