The Gums | 5 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms | Large Getaway in Aussie Bush

Large groups of up to 12 guests can stay at the property, making it especially ideal for 2 or 3 families holidaying together. While in a tranquil space of its own, The Gums is just a jaunt away from the beating heart of Daylesford and all its attractions. Bars, shops, galleries, wellness centres and artisanal stores await exploration. Beyond the grounds of the property itself, Daylesford has many natural attractions, including the lovely Lake Daylesford and the Wombat Hill Botanic Garden.

Freshly refurbished, the home’s interiors have been elevated to new heights with a design philosophy that emphasises the property’s connection with nature. The kitchen, dining and main lounge share a beautifully finished open-plan space with plenty of natural light and access to the porch. The living room is cosy with a large coonara, plush grey couches and rustic wooden furniture. Tapestries adorn the walls and faux potted plants provide splashes of refreshing greenery.

The kitchen and dining room is fully equipped with high-quality appliances and plenty of bench space for all sorts of culinary adventures. The space plays with contrast between light and dark, sparkling white walls and natural sunlight complementing dark wooden cabinets and furniture, while a lovely array of houseplants add vibrancy. Stools for breakfast bar seating, and leather armchairs round out the room. Down the hall, guests will find the dining table proper in an elegant room flooded with natural light which also has access to the deck area.

The home’s five bedrooms collectively offer 4 king split beds, and 2 sets of single bunks. The newly revamped lodgings boast rustic yet plush furnishings. Fascinating wooden lattice designs adorn the walls while faux plants bring life into the rooms, working to enhance the warm greys, browns and whites that make up the colour palette. In addition to the home’s 2 woodfire heaters, split-system heating and cooling allow for year-round temperature regulation.

The property also features an external barn complete with kitchenette, leather lounges, TV, wood fire, billiard table and bathroom.

The Gums embraces its verdant surrounds, with a wide porch on one side of the home and a wrap-around deck on the other. The alfresco deck area offers two ample seating arrangements, ideal for relaxing while surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Australian bush. The gas barbecue and rolling lawns make this the perfect space for friends, family and children to gather and enjoy themselves.

Large, cosy and newly revitalised, The Gums offers guests a private retreat away from the hassles of everyday life in the splendour of the Aussie bush without sacrificing the comforts of home.

Beautiful house, stunning location, would definitely stay again.

We highly recommend this property.

The gums was a beautiful and clean property to stay in. We arrived to this gorgeous little cottage garden which was so delightful . The home was a warm rustic, well presented home with an incredible outdoor patio overlooking gorgeous grounds filled with kangaroos. Each room had electric blankets, clean sheets and bathrooms were spotless. The kitchen was filled with lots of utensils and firewood was supplied for the fireplace which kept us warm through the cold nights.

Beautiful home, great for our family event.

The kids loved the barn and the house is well stocked and really clean. Beds comfy and fireplaces were perfect on the cold weekend we were there. Went for a walk on the property in the gum trees and saw some kangaroos. Really pretty. Highly recommend this property

We had a wonderful stay for two families with kids.

The property is beautiful and the kids loved watching the kangaroos :) we spent lovely evenings cooking dinner in the spacious kitchen and lounging by the fire. Will definitely stay again.

We had a perfect stay!

The Gums is a great house and highly recommended for large groups wanting to be away from the crowd but still so close to Daylesford (15 minute drive). The outdoor space and view is great. The kitchen is very well decked out and the shed is a nice cosy extra space to relax in front of the fire.

The "Gums" is an incredible property located in a secluded location.

5/5

The dining and kitchen area was one of the best I have ever seen, so much space and a well designed layout. Very comfortable lounge areas, with the shed area being a nice spot to separate from the other guests. The massive outdoor area is quite unique and scenic, it was great playing footy on the open space. 100% recommend this location to anyone with a larger group size, it was very spacious for our 12 guests. Thanks for letting us stay!

Amazing property and one where a large group (say 8.

Amazing property and one where a large group (say 8-10) can spread out or be all together quite easily. We took all we needed, so never left for the 3 days we were there. So the "out of town" nature of the property suited to a tee. If you are looking for peace and quite in a beautiful country house, you just found it!! Thanks for having us stay and we would rebook in a heart beat.

A beautiful country escape for myself and my family.

A beautiful country escape for myself and my family. One of the most well equipped and functional kitchens I've come across, with plenty of interior and exterior space for all to enjoy. Cosy, comfortable beds with high quality linens.

Plently of room for 4 small families to stay.

5/5

Plently of room for 4 small families to stay. The kids loved the massive block running up and down. Kangaroos seen in the late afternoon from afar. Rooms were cosy and decorated well. The husbands had a great time in the barn. Lovely stay for all our families!

We stayed here over Christmas with a group of 10 people and found the space to be ideal for large groups.

We stayed here over Christmas with a group of 10 people and found the space to be ideal for large groups. It had a large table (both inside and out) for everyone, the kitchen was very well stocked and the sleeping spaces were very clean and roomy. Would highly recommend.

'The Gums' is very peaceful and in a beautiful location.

5/5

'The Gums' is very peaceful and in a beautiful location. Nearby Daylesford is only a short drive away. We enjoyed seeing the wildflowers in the bush, the adjacent farms and being able to wander through the property and along the adjoining lane. Our aged parents loved being around family and having the opportunity to enjoy the serenity. The rest of the family- who are in their 20's, also had a wonderful time. We particularly liked spending time on the deck, watching the birds and other wildlife, as we enjoyed the views. The house is well laid out, well kept and clean. It was great to see some of the features of the original cottage thoughtfully preserved after its renovation and extension. A beautiful place to stay in a magnificent location.

Sensational experience.
